Students will read and react to "A Chauvinist Pig in a Poke" by doing a close reading.

Agenda:
In pairs, read the article and follow the directions on the satire analysis sheet.
The article (with its annotations) and the satire analysis sheet are both due at the end of class.

If you finish early, grab a Bluetooth keyboard and:

Begin compiling evidence for both sides of Face-off-Friday:

What are the limits of satire?  Are there subjects that should be off limits?  Can the humorist get away with messages that are inflammatory?

HW:

Finish the Letter to the Editor and share with your partner to peer edit. Give your partner permission to "can comment" ONLY. They should not be editing your paper for you.

2/3: Lit as Film

Students will define and discuss film techniques.

Agenda:
Did you turn in your film review?  Today is the deadline!

- Warm-up: Re-read last night's readings (they're on the front table, and on your phone)
- Turn in AP Test money ASAP!  ($91 per AP test on a check or money order to QOHS)
- Discuss Resist the Tyranny and French Muslims Feel Torn
- Develop a Letter to the Editor based on one article  

HW:
Finish the statement, acknowledgement and concession paragraphs tonight on Google Docs.
