2/5: AP Lang

Students will read and react to "When May I Shoot a Student?" by doing a close reading.

Agenda:
Warm-up: Independently read the article and annotate it.

Then, after the warm-up, complete the satire analysis sheet.  Be sure to annotate!  You may work with a partner; however, the partner must be wearing the same color shirt as you.

The article (with its annotations) and the satire analysis sheet are both due at the end of class.

Begin compiling evidence for both sides of Face-off-Friday:

What are the limits of satire?  Are there subjects that should be off limits?  Can the humorist get away with messages that are inflammatory?

HW:
- Read Charlie Hebdo article and prepare for Face-off-Friday.  You must have notes for both sides:
- Begin studying for vocabulary; the quiz will be on Tuesday, 2/10
